Grape Variety:91% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, Alcoholic Content: 13.5%, Vineyards: 100% Paso Robles and Napa, Sonoma, and Amador County, Total Acidity: 0.57g/100ml, pH: 3.71, Barrel-aging: 10 months in French oak barrels, Winemaker: Corey Beck, Vineyard Report: Zinfandel is one of the earliest varieties planted in California, and one of the most popular. The Zinfandel grape can produce very dense, inky wines when grown on the hillsides along the coast range and delicious, forward and approachable wines when grown on the fertile soils of the valleys. We harvest from plantings of Zinfandel in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Paso Robles, and Amador County. The vineyards of Napa and Sonoma give the Diamond Zinfandel classic structure, seriousness, and weight. These North Coast vineyards tend to have rich alluvial soils and eastern-facing vineyards that receive abundant morning sunshine instead of the hot late-afternoon sun. Vineyards located in Paso Robles offer charming, forward fruit that express a very red berry character not found in the northern counties. Vineyards in Amador County are grown along the hillsides of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, where bright sun on the western-facing slopes and cool nights produce fully developed, well-balanced Zinfandel. The lengthy finish and rich, extracted fruit flavours are a direct result of the careful management and selection in the vineyards. Tasting Notes: Our Red Label Zinfandel has a bright ruby color with aromas of ripe red currants and exotic barrel spices. Flavours of red raspberry, tangy rhubarb, and blackberries fill the palate, with undertones of nutmeg and cracked black pepper evident on the smoothly textured finish. The marriage of grapes from these very distinct growing regions results in a Zinfandel of exceptional depth and longevity. Food Pairings: This wine partners well with spicy pasta dishes, like rigatoni pasta with arrabbiata sauce or with strong cheeses, such as Reblochon or Muenster. It"s also a great match for grilled lamb, short ribs, or eggplant parmesan.
