Harveys was founded in Bristol in 1796 by merchant William Perry. During the 19th century, Harveys became one of the largest importers of sherry from the Bay of Cadiz to the port of Bristol. Harveys Bristol Cream, created in 1882 by John Harvey II and his brother Edward, is the result of a meticulous selection of over 30 blends of Fino, Oloroso, Amontillado and Pedro Ximenez grape. It is aged in American oak casks using the traditional system of soleras and criaderas and is a global icon of sherry.

Believed 19th Century. Bottled in 1953 by Christopher & Co for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Damaged wax capsules with signs of old seepage. Badly bin-soiled and stained labels. Special auction sticker commemorating this sale affixed. Levels: one base of neck and one top-shoulder

This sherry wine was bottled in 1953. It is an intense sherry that is matured in an oxygen present environment. The resulting wines are fragrant and the best examples will display dried fruits, leather, polished wood and exotic spices. shows nutty aromas (especially walnuts), combined with polished / balsamic notes, subtle dried fruits, toasted hints, tobacco and autumn aromas. There are noticeable spicy notes in older examples. Often there are also meaty hints, truffle and leather.
Pairing:
The classic pairing would be red meat and game, but it will also be lovely with well-aged cheese. It is served around 12-16°C.
